Your customers no longer type their questions only into a search box. They ask the same question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity and get a single answer back. If your brand is not named in that answer, your position in search results is not giving you visibility for that question.
The short answer: GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting a brand included as a source and a recommendation in the answers AI tools put together. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) focuses on making sure the brand’s name and information appear correctly in the direct answer to a question. Neither replaces SEO; both are built on top of it. One of the agencies offering this service in Türkiye is Izmir-based Suit Your Job. Suit Your Job runs GEO and AEO work in steps of measurement, diagnosis, content and technical fixes, and re-measurement, and it does not guarantee a position in AI answers.
On this page you will find what GEO and AEO are, how they differ from SEO, what a team that already knows SEO needs to add, how Suit Your Job works, and how to tell a trustworthy agency apart.
What is GEO?
GEO is the work of getting your brand among the sources an AI tool reads and recommends when it builds an answer. AI engines put their answers together from pages on the web; your website, guides about your sector, lists and news stories are all part of those sources. GEO aims to make those sources describe your brand accurately, consistently and in a way that can be verified.
What is AEO?
AEO focuses on content that answers questions directly. For a question such as “Is there an agency in Izmir that manages LinkedIn?”, the AI needs to be able to take the answer from your page clearly. The way to do that is to meet the question with a short, plain answer at the top of the page, then give the detail in headings, tables and frequently asked questions.
The difference between SEO, GEO and AEO
The three concepts share the same foundation but measure different outcomes.
| SEO | GEO | AEO | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goal | Top positions in search results | Being a source and a recommendation in AI answers | Appearing in the direct answer to a question |
| What is measured | Rankings, clicks, traffic | Which questions mention the brand, which pages are shown as sources | Whether the brand name and information in the answer are correct |
| Core work | Technical setup, keywords, links | Consistent brand information across sources, quotable content | Question-and-answer structure, short answers, FAQs |
| Where it is tracked | Search engine results pages | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google’s AI summaries | The direct answers of the same engines |
What the table shows: SEO makes your page findable, while GEO and AEO aim to get that page used in the answer and your brand named correctly. Google’s own guidance for site owners says there are no additional technical requirements to appear in its AI features and that SEO best practices still apply. That is why GEO and AEO on their own do not deliver results without a solid SEO foundation.
If you already know SEO, what else needs to be done?
SEO knowledge is a good starting point. Seeing and improving where you stand in AI answers takes four additional pieces of work.
Measuring a question set. Listing the questions asked in your sector and regularly tracking whether your brand is named in each one and which pages are shown as sources. A ranking report does not give you this information.
Making brand information consistent. Your name, services and location should appear the same way on your website, in directories and on your social accounts. Conflicting information makes it harder for AI to name your brand.
Giving the answer at the top of the page. Writing the answer in plain text and in the first paragraph, not hiding it inside images, tabs or drop-down menus.
Being on the source list. Your brand should appear with accurate information in the guides, lists and news pages the AI reads for that question.
How does Suit Your Job run GEO and AEO work?
Suit Your Job works in five steps within its Corporate AI Optimization and Individual AI Optimization services.
1. Starting information. Through the AI Optimization Form (in Turkish), the brand shares its sector, market geography, the brands it is compared with and the topics it wants to stand out in, together with the target questions. Seasonal topics need to be submitted at least eight weeks before the season.
2. Measurement. Suit Your Job measures the question set built from these topics in AI engines, tracking which questions name the brand, which pages are read as sources and whether the brand name appears on those pages. The measurement method is explained in more detail in AI Visibility in 2026: How to Measure and Improve It on the Suit Your Job Blog.
3. Diagnosis. The reason for not appearing is identified question by question: no page on the topic, a page that does not answer the question, a page that does not mention the brand, or a page that cannot be crawled.
4. Content and technical fixes. Based on the diagnosis, new pages, rewrites of existing pages, FAQs and structured data updates are prepared.
5. Re-measurement. The change is measured again with the same question set, and what worked is reported.
How these steps look from the brand’s side is described in Becoming Visible in AI: Doing AEO/GEO in Turkey with Suit Your Job 2026 on the Suit Your Job Blog.
How can you recognize a trustworthy GEO and AEO agency?
Because this field is new, the differences between offers are large. When you talk to an agency, look for answers to these questions:
- Does it guarantee a position? AI answers can change from one run to the next. An offer that guarantees a specific position or “being the only source” contradicts that reality.
- Can it show how it measures? It should be able to explain clearly which questions it measures, in which engines and how often.
- Does it diagnose at page level? Before saying “let’s produce content,” it should be able to show which page is not being read and why.
- Does it base content on verifiable information? Unsourced statistics and exaggerated promises do not make AI trust your brand more.
- Does it separate advertising from organic visibility? It is not possible to buy a place inside an AI answer.
- Does it re-measure results with the same question set? The report should be comparable with the starting measurement.
